Jeff Rehmet Bio
One of Louisville’s most popular & respected musicians, Jeff Rehmet has been performing with a variety of bands & as a solo entertainer for dozens of years. Jeff began playing piano over 40 years ago & has continued performing professionally for over three decades. From Louisville, Kentucky, his involvement has taken him all over the country & abroad. His musical travels have taken him as far away as New York, Alaska, New Orleans, Aruba, Great Britain, & even South Africa. His ability to capture various styles on the piano & keyboards has kept him busy playing in hotels, restaurants, night clubs, country clubs, special event venues, & concert stages both as a solo musician & ensemble player.
Beginning in the late '70s & even now, Jeff picked up much musical experience & genre background playing keyboards with a number of rock, pop, & oldies bands in the area including a 9 1/2 year stint with Wulfe Brothers in 1980. Other groups include: The Impressions, The Mystics, Steve Ferguson, The Sultans, Turley Richards, Sherry Edwards, Cosmo & The Counts, Love Jones & a host of others. In the mid '90s, Jeff also performed on occasion with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra for their pops concert events in Lexington. Outside of performance, Jeff continues to write arrangements, record, & involve himself in a variety of musical environments keeping a fresh perspective & exploring new musical directions.
The Pursuit of Academics: Jeff began as a dedicated music school student in 1990. Graduating with honors, Jeff Rehmet received both his Bachelors Degree (‘95) & his Masters Degree (‘99) in Music Theory/Composition from the University Of Louisville School Of Music. His specific degrees concentrated on music composition. He taught Freshman theory during graduate studies at the university after having been awarded a graduate assistantship from the school. Jeff has received classical & jazz training in piano from U of L & also participated in many jazz ensemble performances while at the school. Also while at the University, Jeff received six academic awards & scholarships related to composition including the all-state KMEA Award for Best Original Composition in 1995.
